Happy Hour with Miami College Republicans!
Miami's College Republicans will be visiting the D.C. area February 9-12 for the Conservative Political Action Conference. No matter what your political affiliation may be, take the opportunity to mingle with these current undergrads and share your views about life in the District! Washington Capitols vs. San Jose Sharks + Miami Broomball vs. Michigan
A day before we celebrate love, Miamians will have the chance to outlet their love for hockey and broomball! Join us on Monday, February 13 for two important competitions: Washington Capitols vs. San Jose Sharks hockey game, followed by a broomball match up between the alumni of Miami and Michigan! The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. for the hockey game, and the broomball match will take place immediately following the game. Tickets are in the upper level at $67 each, and our alumni group tickets will be together. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Tim Bronaugh at 202-266-2341 or tbronaugh@washcaps.com. After the game, join the alumni broomball team as we match up against a fellow Midwestern school; Michigan! Our broomball squads will square off at center ice. Charter Day Ball Cocktail Reception
Miami’s Charter Day Ball celebrates the founding of our university and only takes place once every three years. If you can’t be in Oxford for this longstanding tradition, please join D.C.-area alumni and friends Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 from 8-11 p.m. at Clyde’s of Gallery Place (707 7th Street NW, Washington, D.C., 20001, http://clydes.com/main/index.cfm) for a cocktail reception! Mingle with fellow alumni and friends in the 7th Street Parlour Room as you enjoy an open bar (available all three hours of the event), light snacks and dessert. Co-owned by Miami alumni, lemon and lime event design (http://the-lemon-peel.com) will provide centerpieces and a photo station, and we’ll hold a raffle to top off the night. At long last, the RedHawks are being broadcast on a channel we receive clearly here in the District. Let's take advantage of watching the RedHawks live in action! Join us at 6:05 p.m. on Friday, February 24 at Penn Quarter Sports Tavern as the RedHawks take on the Ohio State Buckeyes. Our group will have access to a food special (to be determined closer to the date), and the following drink specials: Discounted draft pitchers, $20 six bottled buckets of domestic beer. Leap Day Seated Speed Networking Event for Ohio Alumni
Not sure what to do with your extra day in February? Use it productively to network with fellow Ohio Alumni from Miami, Ohio State, Ohio University, Case Western, Cincinnati (and more!) on Wednesday, February 29! Hosted by Professionals in the City, the speed networking event will last for approximately one hour. You will have the opportunity to meet Ohio alumni in various industries as you spend a few minutes speaking with each new contact. After the speed networking, stay for more mixing and more introductions with Ohio alumni you did not meet during the speed networking. There will be a cash bar for this event. Non-Ohioans are also welcome to attend!
