The Capital Alumni Network is led by an Executive Committee to oversee daily operations. These individuals are elected by the Board of Directors comprised of representatives from each alumni chapter at the end of the year for a one year term. In addition, there are at least six positions appointed by the Executive Committee that serve as coordinators of information (not including athletic league commissioners).

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

President & Chairman of the Board - B. Lamont Rooker | | Clemson University:

B. Lamont Rooker is a 1997 graduate of Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina with a B.A. in Political Science.  Lamont has been involved in CAN as an active participant and coach since 2002.  In 2003 and 2004 he served as CAN's Flag Football Commissioner.  In 2005, Lamont was a member of the committee that implemented the inaugural Bachelor/rette Charity event in support of the Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund of which he is a member of the Board of Directors and in 2006 he served as co-chair of the committee along with Kathy O'Toole.  Prior to taking on his new role as the Vice President and Vice Chairman of CAN, Lamont served on the Board of Directors as the Director of Community Service.

Lamont's involvement with Clemson's alumni organization extends beyond representing the school in CAN.  He is a member of the DC Young Alumni Club's Executive Committee as well as a member of the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. Clemson Club Board of Directors.

Second Vice-President / Director of Communications - Greg Merritt | | Virginia Tech
:

Greg graduated from Virginia Tech in 1993 with a B.S. in Marketing Management. Having served as an officer in multiple student organizations, he found a good fit as the Marketing Director of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association, NOVA Chapter in 1996. He took on the role of NOVA Chapter President in 1999 and led the successful progression of popular annual events like the Job Fair, Hokie Open Golf Tournament and Chilifest which enabled the chapter to establish a $25,000 endowment fund in addition to the annual provision of $10,000+ in scholarships to local Hokie freshmen. In 2002-03 Virginia Tech honored Greg as the National Chapter Officer of the Year. He served five years as chapter President and remains on the local board today. Greg has also served as the Director of Communications for the Capital Alumni Network since 2001 during which time CAN has grown from less than 100 chapter members to 230. Professionally, Greg worked in Account Management at AOL for four years and has been at CARFAX for five years where he is the Manager of the Partner Development Group in Business Development.

Board Member Emeritus - Steve Primrose | | Arizona State University:

Steve Primrose is a 1989 graduate of Arizona State University (ASU) with a degree in Political Science. He began his foray into the alumni association world while serving on the ASU National Capital Chapter board in 1991, serving as Secretary. In 1992, he was elected President and served in that capacity until 1998. During that time, the chapter was awarded "Most Improved National Chapter" (1993-94) and "Most Outstanding National Chapter" (1994-97). He was elected by his peers to represent chapters on the national ASU Alumni Association Board of Directors in 1995. After two years of service, he was named "Outstanding Board Member of the Year." And in 2001, he was awarded the Arizona State University "Alumni Service Award" during halftime of the football homecoming game.

Having started a loose coalition of alumni chapters competing in co-ed softball in 1997, Steve co-founded what was ultimately to be known as the Capital Alumni Network (CAN) the following year. In 1999, he was subsequently elected as CAN President, a position he held until 2007. During that time, he also served as softball commissioner (twice) and football commissioner. Steve now serves as CAN Board Member Emeritus.

Steve is a principal and part-owner of the Arizona-based public policy firm of Triadvocates.

Presidential Advisory Committee - Anthony Jones | | College of William & Mary
:

Anthony (AJ) is a native Northern Virginian and graduated from William & Mary in 1985 with a B.A. in International Relations and Latin American Studies. Anthony has been involved in CAN as an overly active participant and coach since 2000 and served as co-Finance Chair for CAN's Bachelor/rette Charity event for the Hoop Dream Scholarship Fund.

Anthony's involvement in CAN led to increased participation in William & Mary's local alumni chapter, where he has served as an At Large member and is currently Vice President. He will take over as President of William & Mary's largest alumni chapter in July and will be courtside when William & Mary finally makes the NCAA men's basketball tournament (317 years and counting).

Anthony is a Certified Financial Planner® and has been with Cooper, Jones & McLeland, LTD in Fairfax, VA since 1998. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association.
