Public Relations - Greg
- Next meeting changed to March 10
- To get CAN Happenings emails, sign up on the website
- CAN basketball will be videoed on Friday as a test run of a potential CAN sports show
Social & Community Service – Elaine
- March 8 – T-30 Days til Softball Party – McFadden’s
- April 12 – Final CAN basketball game will be on the Verizon court, same night as the Wizards v. Bulls game – Must have a ticket to the Wizards game to see the CAN game. There will be a pre-game happy hour TBD.
- Caps event – 140 alums attended. We need feedback on other Happy Hour locations in the area. Email Elaine@dcalum.org with suggestions.
- Flag Football post-season party at CCSP – 900+ people attended
Sports – Maurer
- Football done – congrats to Purdue on their win
- Nick – food donations came to 480 lbs. – we plan to do another food drive at the softball tourney
- Basketball and Volleyball – both started – no problems yet
- Softball – applications will be up on the website Feb 22. The deadline for applications will be March 7.
- Soccer – applications Feb 22, deadline March 5. Also, we’re still looking for a location – please contact Maurer with ideas.
- Golf – any golf events post on the events page and they will be pulled to be additionally posted in the CAN golf section.
CAN Election Timeline
Elections will be held next month, at the March 10 meeting
Information, including application, is posted on the front page at dcalum.org
Election will include the 4 officer positions (President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer) plus 3 Advisory Committee positions
Applications to become voting chapters (Advisory Council Chapter Members) will be online Feb 15 for chapter presidents to fill out.
Some previous board experience has been added to the positions
Info will be sent to POC’s and should be passed on to chapter presidents
Elections will take place at the March 10 meeting, with 1 vote per Advisory Council Chapter members in attendance
Applicants will speak for a few minutes and have a short Q&A
News and Notes
CAN and the National Park Service event – park cleanup on Sat, March 1 in Anacostia Park. Please contact your coaches to get as many people there as possible. Hillary Maxwell from Baylor will be coordinating the effort.
Gold Cup – May 3 – Kickoff meeting will be mid-Feb. This is the 10th year of University Row. Check out www.universityrow.org for more info. More info on Gold Cup at www.vagoldcup.org
