Business Development Chair
The Business Development Director will be responsible for leading the strategic business initiatives of the Capital Alumni Network and will serve as an informative point of contact for businesses and organizations within the D.C. metropolitan area, looking to develop relationships with CAN. This position will be tasked with identifying and managing general and event-specific sponsorships and the development/production of marketing materials designed to attract organizations whose missions, goals and visions align with those of CAN. The Director will work closely with the CAN Treasurer and Committee Chair Directors to solicit and manage sponsorships and to brand the Capital Alumni Network in a manner that is advantageous to both the organization and its member chapters. The Director will also interact with individual chapters, identifying and managing business initiatives specific to individual chapters' interests, needs and goals.
The time commitment for this position, above and beyond time devoted to the issues listed above, will include CAN monthly meetings and monthly meetings of the Board of Directors. It may also involve meetings with outside businesses and organizations or other third parties as the committee's agenda is developed.
In addition to having a BS/BA degree; Board experience; knowledge of CAN; ability to attend meetings; the ideal candidate should be energetic, have excellent communication and people skills and the ability to leverage their resources to identify, engage and secure new opportunities for the organization. Marketing, Sales or Development experience is an asset.
